How to Break Free from Your Money Blocks and Achieve Financial Freedom

“Money is a constant source of stress and frustration in my life…”

“I struggle to make ends meet, pay off debt, or save for the future…”

“I wish I could have more money, but I don’t know how to get it.”

These limiting beliefs are the negative thoughts and assumptions that you may have about yourself, others and the world around you. They can affect every aspect of your life, including your money mindset.

The good news is that you can change your money mindset and overcome your limiting beliefs about money.

Let me show you how to identify and reframe your negative thoughts about money, and how to cultivate a positive and empowering money mindset that will help you achieve financial freedom.

Identify Your Limiting Beliefs About Money

I know this isn’t easy, as some of these beliefs are so ingrained in us that we don’t even realize we have them. They might come from…

Family

Friends

Society

Culture

…Or personal experiences.

They might also be influenced by the media, the internet or social norms.

So, to help you uncover your limiting beliefs about money, here are some common examples of negative thoughts that people have about money:

“There isn’t enough money to go around.”

“I don’t deserve a lot of money.”

“Having money is selfish…”

“Wanting more money is greedy.”

“You need money to make money.”

“You have to work hard to earn money.”

“Money is the root of all evil.”

“Money can’t buy happiness.”

“Rich people are dishonest and corrupt.”

“Poor people are lazy and irresponsible.”

Do any of these resonate with you? If so, write them down and reflect on why you believe them…

Where did they come from?

How do they make you feel?

How do they affect your financial situation?

Reframe Your Negative Thoughts About Money

Once you have identified your limiting beliefs, the next step is to reframe them. This can challenge your negative thoughts and replace them with more positive & realistic ones!

Try doing the following:

  1. Acknowledge your negative thoughts & how they make you feel.

Example: “I believe that there isn’t enough money to go around, and this makes me feel anxious and hopeless…”

  2. Question the validity & accuracy of your negative thought.

Example: “Is this thought true? Is there evidence to support it? Is there evidence to contradict it? Are there exceptions or alternatives to this thought?

  3. Replace your negative thoughts with more positive & empowering ones.

Example: “I choose to believe that money is abundant and that there is enough for everyone. This makes me feel optimistic & grateful.”

  4. Repeat your positive thought until it becomes your new belief.

Example: “Money is abundant, and there is enough for everyone.”

You can use this technique to reframe any limiting beliefs that you have about money. The more you practice it, the more you’ll be able to change your money mindset and attract more money into your life.

Reframing is a great way to start changing your mindset…

But it’s not enough.

So, how to cultivate a positive money mindset?

It is based on the following principles:

  • Money is a tool that you can use to create a better life for yourself and others.

  • You are worthy of having money, and you can have as much as you want.

  • You can ABSOLUTELY make money doing what you love & what you are good at.

  • You can manage your money wisely & responsibly.

  • You can share your money generously & joyfully.

To cultivate a positive money mindset, you can use the following strategies:

  • Set clear & specific financial goals & write them down. For example, “I want to pay off my $10,000 credit card debt in 12 months." or “I want to save $50,000 for a down payment on a house in 5 years."

  • Visualize yourself achieving your financial goals & feel the emotions that come with it.

  • Affirm your positive money mindset every day! You can say to yourself, “I am a money magnet, and money flows to me easily & effortlessly."

  • Track your income & expenses & create a realistic budget. You can use an app or a spreadsheet to record how much money you make every month and allocate your money to your needs, wants, savings, and investments.

  • Pay yourself first & save at least 10% of your income. Set up an automatic transfer from your checking account to your savings account every time you get paid. Do not touch that money unless it’s for an emergency or a specific goal.

  • Pay off your high-interest debt ASAP. Avoid taking on new debt unless it is absolutely necessary.

  • Invest your money for long-term growth & wealth. For example, you can open a retirement account & contribute to it regularly.

By following these strategies, you’ll be able to cultivate a positive mindset that will help you overcome your limiting beliefs about money and achieve financial freedom.
