Show me the… IMPACT.

We’ve all heard that phrase, Show me the money!!

And yes, money is vastly important to your business’s success — I mean, you’ve gotta have decent cash flow to keep the doors open.

But you know what’ more important than the money?

The IMPACT you have on your clients’ lives.

Years from now, you may not remember how much money you made by providing services to this client here or that one over there.

But you know what you will remember?

The feeling it gave you to serve them and serve them well.

A few weeks ago I had a convo with a client I’ve been working with for about three years. I handle her personal finances as well as the bookkeeping and financials for two of her businesses.

At the end of 2023, she was faced with making some really touch decisions about one of her companies and she wanted some outside advice, so…

My client took the financial statements I’d provided her throughout the year (Cash Flow Forecasts, Balance Sheets and Profit & Loss Statements) to a confidant, a person she trusts implicitly who owns several multimillion dollar companies himself.

Do you know what he told her?

He said, “Whoever does your books is your company’s greatest asset.”

When she shared this with me, a huge lump swelled in my throat, my heart expanded, and I had to fight back tears.

That one statement was worth more to me than any amount of money she could ever pay me to do the job.

Because it confirmed for me the value of what we here at Clone provide to each and every person who comes to us for help.

This conversation took place in late January. I’d just survived another (what I call) Bookkeeper Hell Month.

(It’s not really hell, just an extremely busy month that can leave us accountant-y people pretty frazzled as we work late nights and answer quadruple the number of calls as usual while ensuring that our clients’ year end is neatly wrapped and packaged for them to hand off to their tax preparers.)

So please, fellow entrepreneurs, remember that you aren’t just hired help.

What you’re doing for your people positively impacts their lives in ways that you may never know (unless they take the time out of their day to tell you like mine did).

This client didn’t know it, but our conversation took place two weeks before I Need a Clone Consulting turned 12 years old!
